Meet the owner

James first started out in the property business as a trainee negotiator in the late 1990’s working for a local owner operated independent estate agency. He quickly progressed within the industry to senior negotiator and branch manager status working within the Bath area and then latterly the chew valley as manager of a quality independent agency in Chew Magna.

James was keen to progress within his chosen profession so in July 2005 he quit in his role as branch manager, rented out his house, sold his car, took up a big overdraft and set about establishing Allen Residential from his dining room at his partners home in August 2005.

“It was hard at first and I am so greatful for the support from the local people in my area when we first set up” james comments. “It took me 11 months to get back into the black, often wondering if I had made a big mistake by leaving the security of an established company”.

“Slowly we started to turn a profit and the reward for the countless 12 hour days started to show as we slowly became a competitor in our local market place”.

“In 2010 we moved to a larger premises in the village and at which time we also started to deal with lettings on top of our already established sales department”.

Since the move Allen Residential has slowly grown year on year and now has a large portfolio of rental properties together with an established reputation for dealing with rural and country properties in the Paulton and surrounding village areas.

James was born in the village of Paulton, growing up in nearby High Littleton and still lives within 3 miles of the office, he has an extensive knowledge of the local area and has dealt with properties in the Paulton, Midsomer Norton & Chew Valley all of his life.

Outside of his professional life James is a keen sportsman and retains an active interest in cycling, golf and football.

He spends a lot of time with his friends & family socialising & enjoys spending time in the countryside.
